Birmingham welcomes back Abigail this summer in the lead role in Rossini's 'The Thieving Magpie'.

Abigail returns to Birmingham this summer in the lead role of Ninetta for Midland Opera at the Crescent Theatre in Rossini's The Thieving Magpie.

9005d1b6-635f-4811-b36f-345ad8920654In a seemingly idyllic country community, nestled in Europe in the 1800s, Giannetto returns from war in high spirits. His plan is to marry childhood sweetheart, the plucky servant, Ninetta. However, a series of unfortunate incidents such as missing cutlery, a disgraced father, spiteful villagers, a sadistic mayor and a light-fingered bird, lead Ninetta to the scaffold instead of his arms!

Can anyone unpick the truth and save our feisty heroine from death? Or worse, from the clutches of the evil Mayor?

Rossini's captivating score has been featured widely in films such as A Clockwork Orange and Once Upon a Time in America, plus a number of TV commercials.
