The English Touring Opera tour is finished
I am finally feeling rested after the English Touring Opera Spring tour.
It has taken a good week and a half to come down from what was a fantastic tour. For those who don't know, I have recently finished a three month tour with English Touring Opera company performing in Donizetti's Don Pasquale, Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream. I also took part in performances devised especially for severely disabled and autistic children entitled The Midnight Moon. The piece is a combination of the wonderful music of Britten's opera with sensory apsects perfect for the children it was aimed for. I can safely say that this project was one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had whilst performing. The children were just so loving, happy and thrilled to have us singing to them. It is so important to bring music and drama to these children in a way which they can enjoy and connect with.
We have been performing in venues up and down the country including, Wolverhampton, Buxton, Warwick, Poole, Exeter, Truro, Cambridge and even as far as Perth and Belfast. I met some very lovely people on tour and I do hope to work with them again in the future. In fact, I'll be updating my online gallery with some of the photographs which I took back stage during the tour, so watch out for that soon.
