Abigail performs in Poland

Abigail performs a recital of traditional African American spirituals during the 42nd edition of the Letnie Koncerty Organowe i Kameralne (Summer concerts of organ and chamber music) in Władysławowo, Poland. 14.08.14

Abigail will be performing a set of 12 African American spirituals arranged for soprano and string quartet by Polish composer and ethnomusicologist Mieczyslaw Kolinski The concert takes place at 8pm at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Władysławowo, Poland. In addition to the suite of 12 spirituals, Abigail will also be performing arrangements of Gershwin's 'Summertime' (Porgy and Bess) and other spirituals with organist Prof. Jan Bokszczanin.

 

The festival which was launched in 1973 by Eugene Branka - composer, conductor and organist of Czestochowa - has become an annual series of classical concerts. Every year the festival gives the opportunity to enjoy world-class music to thousands of music lovers.

 

This year's 42nd edition sees artists from 9 countries, (Japan, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Finland, UK, Ukraine and Poland) including soprano Miriam Sharoni (Israel) and Abigail Kelly (UK). Respected virtuoso organists Prof. Joseph Serafin, Jaroslaw Wroblewski and Virgile Monin (France), as well as two vocal ensembles, the excellent Octava Ensemble, and Chamber Choir 441Hz. They will be accompanied by the festival orchestra of chamber strings, and brass.
